China Increases Imports of Belarusian Potash in October

China’s imports of Belarusian potash increased in value terms in October. Overall, the country’s potash imports also grew, with Russia showing the fastest growth rate. Russia remains the leading supplier over the first 10 months of the year, according to China’s customs statistics.

In October, China’s imports of potassium chloride rose by 25.8% to 1.21 million tonnes in volume terms, and by 59.7% to 426.9 million dollars in value terms.

Imports of Belarusian potash grew by 48.4% in value terms to 83.8 million dollars in October. Supplies from Russia increased 2.9 times to 201.1 million dollars. Imports from Canada decreased by 0.2% to 42.7 million dollars. Strong purchasing volumes from Laos also continued, with 74.3 million dollars’ worth of potash fertilizers imported in October. Laos has firmly taken third place among potash suppliers to China.

Over the first 10 months, China’s imports of potassium chloride fell by 3.1% to 9.88 million tonnes in volume terms and by 2.3% to 3.05 billion dollars in value terms.

From January to October, imports of Belarusian potash to China decreased by 27.8% to 525.5 million dollars, Russian imports increased by 17% to 1.2 billion dollars, and Canadian imports fell by 18.8% to 498.4 million dollars. Thanks to October deliveries, Laos moved into third place among suppliers this year. Over 10 months, imports from Laos reached 537.3 million dollars, 15.1% more than last year.

Overall, imports of Belarusian goods to China totalled 1.29 billion dollars from January to October.
