The Economic Court of the Brest Region (Belarus) has fined two local residents 80 base units (3,360 roubles). In addition, 15% of their income from selling places in border queues has been confiscated. The case was reported by the Ministry for Taxes and Duties.
According to the press service of the tax authority, sellers of places in queues are prosecuted under Part 2 of Article 13.3 of the Administrative Code (“Engaging in Entrepreneurial Activity Without State Registration”).
The scheme run by the two brothers involved placing in the buyer’s vehicle individuals from categories entitled to expedited border crossing.
“During a test purchase, a person with preferential status was placed in the vehicle. He received only part of the agreed payment for the service, while the organisers of the scheme kept the rest. At least 40 paid placements were proven, the amount of illegal income was established, and the vehicles used by the scheme participants in their unlawful business activity were seized,” the ministry said.
