Brest Region Resident Detained In Custody Over Alleged Sexual Abuse Of 11-Year-Old Girl

A 26-year-old man has been detained in custody in the Brest Region in a case involving alleged sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the suspect was visiting acquaintances. Taking advantage of the parents being distracted, he approached the girl and, against her will, began committing sexual acts against her. Some time later, the girl told her parents what had happened. They contacted the police.

“Due to her age, level of mental and physical development, as well as her individual psychological capabilities, the victim was unable to resist an adult,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The man’s actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 169 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. A prosecutor in one of the districts of the Brest Region authorized his detention in custody.
