Brest Region and the People’s Republic of China will jointly build a modern greenhouse complex. The agreement was signed during a visit of a regional delegation to China, led by chairman of the regional executive committee Piotr Parkhomchik.
According to the Belarusian Embassy in China, the parties signed an agreement “on joint investment in a project to build a modern greenhouse complex for growing vegetable crops on an area of more than 11 hectares.”
Another outcome of the visit was the signing of contracts for the supply of products from the Byaroza Meat Processing Plant and the Kobryn Butter and Cheese Plant to the Chinese market.
This follows earlier discussions held in early September during Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s visit to China, where joint greenhouse projects were negotiated. At the time, it was reported that both Chinese and Belarusian sides would invest, while the technologies would be supplied by China.
One of the proposed projects concerns the production of vegetables and fruit. Belarusian businessman Siarhei Tsiatseryn is expected to oversee its implementation on the Belarusian side, with plans to build the complex in Vitebsk Region. Another project, presented by Council of the Republic member Dzmitry Baskau, involves greenhouse flower cultivation, though its location has not yet been disclosed.
