he bodies of two mountaineers who died in Kyrgyzstan have been identified after rescuers managed to evacuate them. Preliminary information indicates that they were Maksim Palianski of Belarus and Sergey Rubtsov of Lithuania. The Osh Region police department told TASS.
“According to preliminary information, the deceased were identified as Maksim Palianski (born in 1982) and Sergey Rubtsov (born in 1989). A forensic medical examination was ordered to establish the cause of death; the bodies were examined at the morgue of the city hospital in Osh,” the press service said.
Belarusian nationals Maksim Palianski and Mikalai Svirydau, as well as Lithuanian citizen Sergey Rubtsov, stopped responding to calls on Aug. 2. The group was climbing to Kuruмdy Peak along the northern ridge. At 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, the mountaineers reached Kuruмdy Peak. Aug. 2 was their last contact. The group said that after descending they would be ready to leave on Aug. 4, but they never reached the designated meeting point. A large-scale search operation was launched. On Aug. 16, the bodies were spotted during drone footage. On Aug. 24, it was reported that rescuers had located two bodies of the missing mountaineers and begun bringing them down.
