Belavia May Launch Direct Flights to the Maldives as Early as August

Direct flights from Minsk to the Maldives may be introduced as early as August 2026. This was reported by the Republican Union of Tourist Organizations, citing tour operators.

The flight program is expected to run from August to October–November. The Maldives could become Belavia’s fifth long-haul destination. The airline currently operates flights to China, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Thailand.

At present, Belarusians travel to the Maldives with transfers — via Moscow or Istanbul. According to the migration services of the Maldives, more than 4,000 Belarusian citizens visited the islands in 2022, and around 5,900 in 2023. There is no data for 2024 and 2025, but tour operators believe the tourist flow continues to grow amid a reduction in available premium destinations.
