President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Belarusians on Freedom Day in the Belarusian language. He published the corresponding message on the social network X.
“Today is a day known to every Belarusian — Freedom Day. And this is the day of a people who still have to endure hardship and win for themselves true independence and real security,” the Ukrainian leader wrote.
The president noted that Belarus has gone through difficult turns in its history and said that Europe’s attention was insufficient at key moments.
“But Belarus must not be lost. And the people of Belarus must certainly not be left without attention,” he stressed.
Zelenskyy also drew attention to the fact that Lukashenka chose Freedom Day for his trip to Pyongyang.
“The fact that Lukashenka chose this very day for his trip to Pyongyang — farther from his own people and closer to his dream of lifelong family rule — speaks very clearly about his intentions,” he said.
“Europe is a community of free nations. There should be no place here for hereditary dictatorships. There should be no place for regimes that profit from trading sovereignty and assisting terror and aggression. The world needs peace. And that means freedom is needed by all European nations without exception. We wish freedom to the Belarusian people and thank those Belarusians who stand alongside Ukrainians in defense against Russian aggression. Long live Belarus!” the president added.
