Belarusians in Warsaw Celebrate Freedom Day — Photo

A march dedicated to Freedom Day took place in Warsaw today. The procession, carrying a 330-meter white-red-white flag, started from Three Crosses Square and, accompanied by bagpipers, moved towards Castle Square, where a rally and an art fair were scheduled.

Head of the United Transitional Cabinet Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and her deputy Pavel Latushka, as well as Polish politicians and public figures, took part in the event, including Grzegorz Schetyna, chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and former foreign minister, Sejm deputy Alicja Łepkowska, and public figure Adam Michnik.

At the end of the march, Tsikhanouskaya addressed those present:

“We take to the streets because we cannot stay silent. We cannot sit, remain quiet, and simply wait it out. No one but ourselves, Belarusians, will win freedom for us. Today we march for our political prisoners… And we will continue to march until every single one is free. We march to restore justice. To put an end to terror. We demand full political amnesty. In the end, we march simply to see each other. To talk. To be inspired. And to say thank you. And I believe we will succeed. Together we will overcome everything! Long live Belarus!”
