Belarusian Woman Freed From Scam Centre in Myanmar

A Belarusian citizen has been freed from a fraudulent call centre in Myanmar. She is currently being held at the migration centre in the town of Myawaddy on the border with Thailand.

The Belarusian woman’s case was described by Russian citizen Anna L., who was also taken to a scam centre and was freed on June 6. According to her, the Belarusian woman was brought to the migration centre several days ago.

“She is now in contact with the Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam. She is safe and doing well,” the Russian woman told TASS.

It was reported in October 2025 that 26-year-old Belarusian Vera Krautsova (Vera Kravtsova) had died in Myanmar. She had travelled to Bangkok for work but ended up in a scam centre in Myanmar.

Starting today, a visa-free regime between Belarus and Myanmar has entered into force.
