A 42-year-old driver from Belarus has been deported from Poland after crashing a truck with a trailer into a frame structure at the entrance to an underground parking lot of a shopping center in Lublin. The man was found to be intoxicated, with more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system, the Lublin Municipal Police reported.
“Officers from the 6th Police Station, in cooperation with the Border Guard in Lublin, secured the deportation of a 42-year-old Belarusian citizen who, while driving a truck with a trailer, rammed a frame structure at the entrance to the underground parking lot of a shopping center. His blood alcohol content exceeded 2.5 per mille. The suspect has been banned from entering Poland for five years and is also prohibited from entering the Schengen Area,” the statement said.
The incident occurred last Friday. While driving a truck with a trailer, the man ignored several traffic regulations, posing a serious threat. He violated the height restriction of 2.4 meters and attempted to drive a Scania truck into the underground parking lot of the shopping center. The cab of the vehicle struck the steel frame structure of the entrance arch.
The Belarusian driver was detained. A breathalyzer test showed more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. He was charged accordingly.
Due to the serious breach of public order, police requested that the Border Guard in Lublin issue a deportation order. The man has already left Poland and is banned from re-entering Poland and other Schengen Area countries for five years.
