Supplies of Belarusian potash to China increased significantly at the beginning of the year, according to China’s customs statistics for January–February. China boosted its purchases of potash fertilisers, with rising prices also contributing to the trend.
In January–February, China imported 3.07 million tonnes of potash fertilisers, up 32.7% compared to the same period last year. In value terms, imports rose by 68% to $1.11 billion.
Imports of potash fertilisers from Belarus totalled $277.7 million in January–February, or twice as much as in the same period last year. Supplies also increased from other countries: from Russia by 46.2% to $331.6 million, from Canada by 32.5% to $189.4 million, from Laos by 2.1 times to $168.4 million, and from Israel by 73.4% to $65.4 million.
According to Chinese customs data, the total value of imports of goods from Belarus in January–February rose by 35.7% to $411.9 million.
