Belarusian telecom operator MTS has provided free calls to its subscribers located in the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran and Bahrain. The measure will remain in effect through March 15, the company said.
Initially, MTS zeroed out the cost of incoming and outgoing calls only within the UAE and to Belarus. The measure has now been expanded to other countries in the region.
According to the National Tourism Agency, more than 3,000 Belarusian tourists who purchased tour packages through agencies are currently in the Middle East. Air traffic in the region has been disrupted due to a U.S. and Israeli operation against Iran.
Only today did Belavia announce its first repatriation flight from the UAE.
