Mahiliou customs officers have uncovered a large shipment of foreign consumer goods being transported from Russia without customs clearance. The total value of the cargo exceeded 4 million Belarusian rubles.
A total of 88,500 items of clothing, footwear, leather goods, mobile phone cases, and other products were being transported in a DAF truck that was stopped during a special operation on the Belarusian-Russian section of the border.
The driver, who works for a Belarusian transport company, did not have the transport or cargo documentation for the goods, which were intended for sale in Belarus.
Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the legal entity under Article 13.12 of Belarus’ Code of Administrative Offenses. The company faces a fine of up to 50% of the value of the goods, or up to 2 million Belarusian rubles, the press service of the Belarusian State Customs Committee said.
