A shipment of perfume worth more than 760,000 rubles was being brought into Belarus without being declared or having customs duties paid. The violation was uncovered by Operational Customs officers acting on intelligence, the State Customs Committee reported.

Customs officers inspected a truck that had arrived from the United Arab Emirates. Among other goods, they found more than 3,500 units of perfume. The goods were not listed in the accompanying documents, and customs duties totaling about 230,000 rubles had not been paid.

Operational Customs initiated administrative proceedings under Part 1 of Article 15.5 of the Belarusian Code of Administrative Offenses. The article provides for a fine of up to 30% of the value of the goods involved in the administrative offense. In addition, the carrier will have to pay the outstanding customs duties.
