Belarusian Customs Files Claims Against Two Polish Carriers

Belarusian customs authorities have filed claims against two Polish transport companies. The claims are related to alleged customs duty evasion, the State Customs Committee said.

A SCANIA truck arriving from Georgia was transporting 21 tonnes of used clothing and handbags worth 240,000 Belarusian rubles. However, the driver presented accompanying documents containing inaccurate information, which could have resulted in customs duties being understated by 60,000 rubles.

In another case, documents deliberately omitted part of a shipment of footwear worth 45,000 rubles that arrived from the Czech Republic in a VOLVO truck. As a result, the carrier allegedly attempted to avoid paying 9,000 rubles in customs duties.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated.
