Belarusian Army Receives Batch of Upgraded T-72BM2 Tanks

One of the units of a mechanised brigade of the Belarusian Armed Forces has received a new batch of upgraded T-72BM2 tanks. The upgrade was carried out by a Belarusian enterprise.

“The development of the tank took into account the experience of using military equipment in modern armed conflicts, which made it possible to integrate the most effective solutions into the vehicle’s design to enhance its tactical and technical characteristics,” the Defence Ministry’s press service said.

The upgraded T-72BM2 incorporates the following solutions:

  • a multi-channel gunner’s sight has been installed, increasing firing effectiveness;
  • firing conditions have been improved through the introduction of a mode allowing weapons control from the commander’s position;
  • modern television and thermal imaging devices, as well as domestically developed dynamic protection and anti-cumulative screens, have been installed;
  • autonomy has been increased through the installation of an auxiliary power unit.
