Belarus to Open Embassy Office in Voronezh, Russia to Do So in Vicebsk, Homiel and Mahilyow

Belarus plans to open an office of its embassy in Voronezh and is also considering opening a representative office in Omsk, Alexey Polishchuk, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second CIS Department, told RIA Novosti in an interview.

According to him, 15 Belarusian foreign missions are currently operating in Russia. In addition to the embassy in Moscow, these include six consulates general — in Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and St Petersburg — as well as six embassy offices in Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Kazan and Ufa.

The offices in Kazan and Ufa are expected to be upgraded to consulates general by April 1. In addition, two honorary consuls of Belarus operate in Russia — in Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.

Polishchuk also noted that Russia will soon have a diplomatic presence in all six regions of Belarus.

“At present, the embassy in Minsk, consulates general in Brest and Hrodna, and honorary consuls in Vicebsk and Homiel are operating. Through Rossotrudnichestvo, Russian science and culture centers are active in Minsk, Brest and Hrodna,” he said.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry official, preparations are currently under way for the actual opening of Russian embassy offices in Vicebsk, Homiel and Mahilyow.

“In November 2025, in accordance with a directive of the Russian government, offices of our embassy were established in Vicebsk, Homiel and Mahilyow. Preparations are under way for their actual opening. They will contribute to the development of interregional ties and to even more effective protection of the rights and interests of our compatriots,” Alexey Polishchuk said.
