The Belarusian Ministry for Emergency Situations (MES) is holding large-scale civil defense exercises today at its training ground near Barysaw. The drills are designed to demonstrate the preparedness of civil defense forces to operate under wartime conditions.
“A wide range of tasks is being practiced — from crisis response and civilian protection to maintaining the operation of critical infrastructure amid large-scale disruptions to utility networks,” the ministry said in a statement.
The exercise involves 16 training sites, more than 270 personnel, and 130 units of equipment.
“Participating are forces from 12 national civil defense services representing the MES, Interior Ministry, Health Ministry, Energy Ministry, Communications Ministry, Information Ministry, Transport Ministry, Housing and Utilities Ministry, Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry, Construction and Architecture Ministry, Agriculture Ministry, and Belneftekhim,” the MES added.
The drills will be observed by the head of the ministry, senior government officials, members of the Security Council Secretariat, and heads of other ministries and agencies.
