Belarus Ready To Offer Sites For Data Centers To Investors — Halouchanka

Belarus is ready to offer investors sites for the placement of data centers, as the country currently has a surplus of electricity. This was stated by Raman Halouchanka, chairman of the board of the National Bank, after a meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

“We all see how cloud computing and especially artificial intelligence are developing now. This requires large volumes of energy consumption. An average data processing center consumes as much electricity as 50,000 households. That is a small city. Analysts predict that demand for energy resources in the world will only increase — particularly for electricity,” he said.

According to him, data center services are currently in demand globally, especially for artificial intelligence operations.

“Therefore, considering that we have a surplus of electricity in the country, I think we are fully capable of offering favorable conditions for investors and partners — those who are interested in placing such capacities here. I believe this is a very promising direction, and I am confident that the government will definitely address it,” he said, BelTA reported.

It should be noted that this is not the first proposal to use the electricity surplus that emerged in the country after the launch of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP). Earlier, meetings with Lukashenka also discussed using the energy potential for cryptocurrency mining. Mining farms with foreign capital are already operating in Belarus.
