Belarus’ GDP Grows by 1.3% in 2025

Belarus’ gross domestic product in 2025 amounted to 286.7 billion roubles. It increased by 1.3% compared with 2024. The GDP deflator index in 2025 relative to the previous year stood at 111%, Belstat reported.

Growth rates at the end of December remained at the level of the first 11 months. As reported earlier, GDP growth in January–November also amounted to 1.3%. After nine months, growth stood at 1.6%, and after 10 months at 1.5%. The socio-economic development forecast for this year had envisaged GDP growth of 4.1%.

Labour productivity based on GDP for the first 11 months amounted to 62,742.1 roubles, up 1.2% year-on-year.

Agricultural output in December across all categories of farms amounted to 2.08 billion roubles, which is 4.5% higher than in the same period last year. In agricultural organisations, it increased by 4.8% to 2.04 billion roubles.

Across all categories of farms, agricultural production last year rose by 0.2% to 40.15 billion roubles, while in agricultural organisations it increased by 2.7% to 33.34 billion roubles.

Production of livestock and poultry in agricultural organisations in December grew by 5.9% to 149.1 thousand tonnes compared with the same period last year, while over 12 months it increased by 0.1% to 1.77 million tonnes.

Milk yields in December rose by 6.2% to 755.8 thousand tonnes. Over the year, milk production increased by 5.3% to 9 million tonnes.

Industrial production in December fell by 2.9% to just under 18 billion roubles. Over the year, it declined by 1.8% to 208.05 billion roubles.

Industrial inventories as of 1 January amounted to 11.235 billion roubles. They decreased by 430 million roubles over the month.

The inventory level stood at 80.3% of average monthly production, down by 2.3 percentage points.

Investment in fixed capital in December increased by 8.2% to 7.14 billion roubles. Over the year, investment growth amounted to 11.3%, with total investment nearing 56 billion roubles.

In December, 1.01 million square metres of total housing area were commissioned, which is 6.9% less than a year earlier. At the same time, housing commissioned with state support increased by 15.5% to 168.7 thousand square metres. Overall, housing construction for the year grew by 4.2% to 4.57 million square metres, while housing with state support decreased by 2.4% to 810.9 thousand square metres.

According to Belstat, retail trade turnover last year increased by 6.6% to 120.86 billion roubles. In December, retail turnover rose by 1.9% to 10.24 billion roubles.

Wholesale trade last year declined by 4.9% to 180.16 billion roubles. At the same time, wholesale turnover in December grew by 0.2% to 16.9 billion roubles.

Public catering turnover increased last year by 5.1% to 7.4 billion roubles. In December, it grew by 1.6% to 704.7 million roubles.

Freight turnover last year decreased by 2.6% to 72.34 billion tonne-kilometres.

Passenger transport increased by 1.5% to 1.665 billion passengers.
