Belarus Foreign Ministry Expresses Concern Over Situation Around Cuba

Belarus is concerned about the situation around Cuba and the supply of energy resources to the country, the Foreign Ministry said, warning of the risk of a humanitarian crisis.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus is following with concern the situation around Cuba and the supply of energy resources to this country.

Particular concern is caused by the threat that the current escalation in the Caribbean could develop into a serious humanitarian crisis with unpredictable consequences.

Minsk consistently insists on the inadmissibility of unilateral coercive measures that create obstacles to trade relations between states, restrain the process of comprehensive socio-economic development, and hinder efforts to ensure the well-being of the population.

We firmly believe that all disagreements should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and within the framework of international law,” the statement said.

It should be recalled that U.S. President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency due to what he described as a threat posed by Cuba. In the emergency order, he instructed the introduction of additional tariffs against countries that supply oil to the island.
