Belarus Develops Fire Control Systems For Self-Propelled Artillery

Belarusian company OJSC NIIEVM has successfully completed state tests of fire control system kits for self-propelled artillery. This was reported by the State Authority for Military Industry.

The set of technical equipment is designed for installation on the 2S1 Gvozdika, 2S3 Akatsiya and 2S5 Hyacinth-S self-propelled artillery systems.

“The equipment is integrated by specialized software and connects these artillery systems into a single automated command and control system for artillery units,” the statement said.

The kit includes a computing system (based on tablet and portable computers), as well as communication and data transmission systems, navigation systems and technical support equipment.

According to the committee, the system allows the following capabilities in automated mode:

  • receiving calculated firing parameters;
  • exchanging information between self-propelled artillery systems and battery fire control command vehicles in real time;
  • transmitting orders to each vehicle commander;
  • receiving feedback on the execution of assigned tasks and decisions taken;
  • displaying the battery’s combat formation on a digital terrain map.

“State tests confirmed that in terms of technical characteristics the system is not inferior to the best foreign analogues. The main advantage is that the use of the system reduces the time needed to prepare and execute a fire mission by 1.5–2 times, while increasing firing accuracy and the survivability of the battery,” the committee added.
