Minsk writer and war correspondent Mikalai Haurylau described how he spent four days making his way out of the Krasnyi Lyman area. The message appeared on September 19 on the Telegram channel of the Saint Elisabeth Convent, from where he delivers aid to Russian military personnel.

According to him, the situation in the Krasnyi Lyman area has become “critical.” He claims that the roads leading there, all the way to the disembarkation point, are under constant enemy fire, making it extremely difficult to reach the area.

“I want to thank the convent for raising the alarm. If it weren’t for you, I would not be alive. At present, because of false reports from commanders on the ground and elsewhere, and because the real situation in the Krasnyi Lyman area is being concealed, the situation has become critical.

All roads leading there, all the way to the disembarkation point, are under constant enemy fire. Drones, multiple-launch rocket systems, and, closer to the line of contact, tube artillery. Reconnaissance aircraft in the sky. It is extremely difficult to get there. In addition, under the cover of information silence, the enemy is physically pushing closer and closer in an attempt to completely cut off the forward units of the 20th and 25th armies. In short, the situation is extremely difficult,” the post says.

According to Haurylau, he bought food and medicine for Russian military personnel, wounded soldiers, and a family of civilians remaining in Torske, and made his way there together with reconnaissance personnel. He had to make his way back alone.

“It took me four days to get back alone, without communications or a radio — phones do not work there. I was also wounded last month — two fragments in my hand, and the hand was inflamed. But thanks to your help, many people were searching for me, and in the end they brought me out alive,” he said.

Earlier, the Saint Elisabeth Convent reported Haurylau’s disappearance on the evening of September 16. The convent’s Telegram channel said that he had not returned for 24 hours to the location where he was supposed to return and had not been in contact. The convent later reported that Haurylau was alive, although “not everything was rosy.”
