Bank Loses Half a Million Rubles to Fraudsters

The Interior Ministry reported that it had uncovered a loan fraud scheme involving 500,000 rubles. Two people have been detained.

According to police, the 38-year-old director of a private company and its 37-year-old chief accountant used documents and details belonging to more than 30 shell companies. They then took out bank loans of 10,000 rubles in the names of these companies, with no intention of repaying them.

“The accomplices withdrew the funds in cash and spent them on the ‘good life.’ The total damage caused to the financial institution over the year of their criminal activity exceeded 500,000 rubles,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

A criminal case has been opened on fraud charges.
