The Interior Ministry has added another 20 people to the “List of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, Foreign Citizens or Stateless Persons Involved in Extremist Activity.”
According to the human rights center Viasna, those added to the list include Vera Kanonenka, a defendant in the “courtyard chats” case, and her civil husband Siarhei Kardash.
The list now contains 6,373 names.
Belarusian authorities regularly use extremism-related charges to fight political opponents and dissent in general.
