Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin Discuss Border Situation by Phone

On Saturday evening, the press service of Alyaksandr Lukashenka reported a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The discussion included the situation at the border.

“The development of bilateral relations — including new promising projects. The issue of constructing a new power unit at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Astravets. Defence and security matters. Particular attention was paid to the situation unfolding at the border of the Union State,” Lukashenka’s press service briefly outlined the topics of the conversation.

It added that the presidents agreed to discuss in more detail the issues and topics of mutual interest in the near future — primarily during the upcoming late-November summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Bishkek.

The Kremlin press service confirmed the phone conversation and added that there was “an exchange of views on a number of practical issues of bilateral cooperation, including in the energy sector, as well as on current international topics.”

It was also reported that an in-person meeting between Putin and Lukashenka will take place not only in Bishkek but also at the end of the year in Saint Petersburg during the traditional meeting of the leaders of CIS member states.
