Agriculture Ministry Changes Cheese Prices for Russia for Second Consecutive Day

Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry has again amended minimum export prices for dairy products. Resolution No. 42 of May 7 was published on the National Legal Internet Portal and comes into force on May 8. The ministry had already revised prices yesterday.

This time, the ministry introduced two new cheese categories. Prices are now set separately for packaged and bulk cheeses. Prices for packaged cheeses remain unchanged, while prices for bulk cheeses have been reduced.

Bulk cheeses with a fat content of 45% or less must now be exported to Russia at no less than 405 Russian rubles per kilogram, while cheeses with a fat content above 45% must cost no less than 415 Russian rubles per kilogram. Prices for packaged cheeses remain at 495 and 505 Russian rubles per kilogram respectively.

Notably, for markets other than Russia, the Agriculture Ministry does not differentiate between prices for packaged and bulk cheeses.

It should be noted that Russian media recently published reports about growing cheese inventories amid increasing production and imports from Belarus, while demand has remained unchanged: demand is growing in the retail segment but declining in the HoReCa sector.
