Unknown Individuals Send Calls to “Stop Criticizing” in the Name of Tsikhanouskaya’s Office

Former political prisoners and activists are receiving private messages from people claiming to represent the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and urging them to stop publicly criticizing others.

According to the Tsikhanouskaya Office , the messages, including those sent from the @prisoners_manager account, demand that recipients “stop criticizing” and “not undermine donors’ trust”. The senders claim that public statements are allegedly harming assistance to people who remain behind bars.

The Office of the democratic forces’ leader said it had nothing to do with these messages, had not made any such demands of former political prisoners and did not use anonymous accounts to communicate.

“We regard these actions as a possible provocation aimed at undermining trust and creating conflicts within the Belarusian community. We cannot rule out the possibility that the regime’s security services are behind these messages. We urge people to remember that such contacts may be an attempt to obtain personal information about former political prisoners, their contacts and whereabouts,” the Office said.

Recipients of such messages are advised not to reply, follow any links or share personal information. The Office also recommends taking screenshots of the correspondence, blocking the account and reporting it. The authenticity of any communication can be verified through the official channels.
