Five Polish citizens and one Russian citizen were arrested. Searches were conducted at 21 locations across three voivodeships as part of the investigation.
The detainees have been charged with espionage and the illegal trafficking of military goods.
A court ordered four suspects to be held in pre-trial detention. Non-custodial preventive measures were imposed on the other two.
According to investigators, the group operated from June 2023 to December 2025 in Poland, Lithuania and Russia. Its members were responsible for purchasing goods, collecting them and arranging their shipment to Russia’s Kaliningrad Region.
The goods were purchased, among other places, through online stores. They were transported in vehicles equipped with concealed compartments. The suspects crossed the Polish-Russian border multiple times, with some shipments intercepted by Polish authorities.
“According to preliminary data, the value of the ammunition components purchased and illegally transported to the Russian Federation exceeds 2 million zlotys (more than $500,000),” the National Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The statement indicates that the goods included cartridge cases and bullets.
