Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre conveyed Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s wish for direct talks to Vladimir Putin during a phone conversation on October 27. Putin’s aide, Yury Ushakov, said this in an interview with the Vesti Information Service.

According to Ushakov, the conversation focused on an agreement to resume trilateral talks involving representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

“One more point is worth noting. Both the Norwegian prime minister and the Finnish president conveyed to our president Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s strong interest in speaking directly with our leader,” Ushakov said.

In response, Putin said that Zelenskyy could come to Moscow for talks.

“Our leader reiterated that if Zelenskyy genuinely wants to hold direct talks, he should come to Moscow, where all the necessary conditions will be provided, including in terms of security,” Ushakov said, recounting the conversation.

It should be recalled that Stubb and Støre’s conversation with Putin took place today. The Kremlin said the sides exchanged views “on issues related to resolving the Ukrainian crisis.” After speaking with Putin, Stubb and Støre called the Ukrainian president.
