The agency published excerpts of recordings from the site of the operation on X.
“ABW played a key role in preparing and carrying out this operation,” the agency said in a statement.
An episode of the TVP Info programme Raport Specjalny entitled “The New Cold War” is dedicated to the exchange. It will air on October 25 at 20:15. An ABW officer will share details of the operation and explain the specifics of such activities, the agency said.
Andrzej Poczobut is a Belarusian journalist of Polish origin. He was released this spring as part of a five-for-five exchange conducted by Poland and Belarus. The United States also took part in organizing the exchange. Upon his release, Poczobut was assured that he would be able to return to Belarus. In early September, he made a week-long trip to the country, where he met with relatives and activists from the Union of Poles in Belarus.
