Belsat was the first to report the award.
In its official statement, the jury praised the film “for its profound portrait of young people from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia who, despite their experiences of war and dictatorship, find space for dialogue and mutual understanding in art and music.” The judges highlighted the strength of a community that emerges across political divisions.
About the Film
According to the description published by the Belsat Doc project, the film centres on 70,000 Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian fans travelling to a concert by Belarusian rapper Max Korzh.
They belong to the “Dvizh” subculture created by the rapper, whose core principles include keeping a distance from politics, rejecting national divisions and wanting to live in the here and now. But is it possible to live detached from reality when the world is burning? The result is an emotional, polyphonic story about music that was supposed to bring people together and a world that is becoming increasingly divided.
In an interview with journalists, director Aliaksandr Haradko stressed that he had deliberately sought to remain as neutral as possible and had avoided offering his own judgment:
“It is a lie that documentary filmmaking can be impartial and that it is simply a pure recording of reality. A director still chooses what to film and what to leave out during editing, thereby expressing their own perspective. In that sense, ‘Dvizh’ was an exception for me — I aimed for maximum neutrality. That is precisely why the film features several different protagonists who are unlike one another, representing different voices of a generation. It was important for me to create a plurality of voices and speak to the audience through the voices of the protagonists… To show a phenomenon without offering my own judgment,” the director said.
Belsat editor-in-chief Alina Koushyk also celebrated the film’s success:
“At first glance, the film is about a Maks Korzh concert, but in fact it is about an entire generation, its contradictions, its search for freedom and its place in the world,” she wrote, congratulating the creative team.
