Belarusian Customs Seize $33,000 From Israeli Citizen

An Israeli citizen who flew to Minsk from Tel Aviv left the equivalent of $33,000 with Belarusian customs.

According to the State Customs Committee, the passenger chose the green channel when going through customs control and failed to declare the money he was carrying — a total of $33,000 in various currencies. The cash was in the traveler’s luggage.

No more than $10,000 may be carried across the border without a declaration.

A criminal case has been opened against the Israeli citizen. The money has been seized pending a court decision.
