Minsk Man Falls from Scooter onto Tram Tracks and Dies

The State Committee for Forensic Examinations (SCFE) reported an accident that occurred in Minsk this summer. A drunk Minsk resident’s scooter ride ended in his death.

The incident took place at the intersection of Masherau Avenue and Starazheuskaya Street.

“According to eyewitnesses, the intoxicated man fell from his scooter, struck his head against the tram tracks as he fell, and stopped moving,” the SCFE said.

Medics who arrived at the scene performed resuscitation measures. They managed to restore the man’s heartbeat. He was hospitalized, but died seven days later without regaining consciousness.

Forensic experts concluded that the man died from multiple blunt-force injuries to the body, including numerous abrasions and bruises on his face and body, comminuted fractures of the nose and a cervical vertebra, and hemorrhages and damage to the spinal cord. The clinical course was complicated by a life-threatening condition—a coma—as well as the development of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (impairment of the functions of two or more organs) and a number of other complications.
