Russia Attacks Ukraine With 173 Drones

On the night of September 26, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 173 attack drones. According to preliminary data from the Ukrainian Air Force, Ukrainian air defences shot down or suppressed 134 drones.

The attack began at around 6 p.m. on September 25. The drones used included Shaheds, more than 50 of them jet-powered, as well as Gerbera drones and Parody decoy drones. They were launched from the Russian regions of Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Shatalovo, as well as from occupied areas of Donetsk region and Crimea.

The Ukrainian military reported that aerial weapons struck 19 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in eight other places.

According to data from Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, five people were injured in the Ukrainian capital in the attack. They received medical assistance at the scene.

In the Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out near warehouse buildings. In the Obolonskyi district, drone debris fell near a residential building and damaged its windows. In the Solomianskyi district, the roof of an office building caught fire. A search-and-rescue operation is also underway at a five-storey residential building there, where injured people were found.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a drone crash caused a fire and destroyed one of the shops on the premises of a shopping centre. The fire has been extinguished.

In Kharkiv, drones attacked the Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts, as well as the suburbs, overnight. According to data from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, three fires broke out. The structures of a previously destroyed building, a car and a two-storey private house caught fire. Residential buildings, an educational institution and a car were damaged. Despite the threat of further strikes, rescuers extinguished the fires.

In the morning, Russian drones attacked Zaporizhzhia. Two women were killed, and a 38-year-old man and a three-year-old boy were injured. The number of injured is being уточняется.
