Border Chats Report “Interviews” At Belarusian Border Almost Daily

The Telegram channel analyzed 17 border-related chats and found around 3,400 mentions of “interviews” and questioning at the Belarusian border.

The authors studied messages in the chats from 2021 through September 2026. According to their calculations, in 2025 and 2026, “interviews” at the border were mentioned an average of around 150 times a month. Over the past year, such mentions appeared almost daily, with reports of “interviews” absent on only 12 out of 365 days.

At the same time, users mentioned phone checks and requests to show subscriptions nearly twice as rarely in 2026 as they had the previous year. The number of “interviews” themselves has not decreased, the outlet notes.

The authors recommend that people planning to travel to Belarus check their social media and messenger accounts in advance and take into account the possibility of additional questions at the border.
