A 10-metre crater, believed to have been caused by the fall and explosion of an unidentified object, was discovered overnight in Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship. The crater is located in a field near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, about 90 km from the border with Ukraine.
The area has been cordoned off, and police, explosive ordnance disposal specialists and other emergency services are working at the scene. Fragments of an unidentified object have been found.
According to Lublin112, residents of the nearby village of Targowisko heard a very loud noise during the night that shook their windows. They compared it to a bomb explosion.
Earlier today, Russia carried out another large-scale strike on Ukraine, targeting, among other areas, the country’s western regions. In such cases, Poland typically scrambles fighter jets and raises the readiness level of its air defence systems. On this occasion, however, air raid sirens were briefly activated across a significant part of Lublin Voivodeship’s counties before being cancelled 10–20 minutes later.
