Ukraine has an agreement with the United States to receive Patriot interceptor missiles every month, but the number is insufficient to protect Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Aug. 8 at a joint news conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
“Will they allocate missiles to us every month? Yes, we have an agreement. Are these missiles enough? No. …There are fewer of these missiles in 2026. There were more in 2025, I will tell you openly,” Zelenskyy said, without specifying how many missiles Kyiv receives each month.
Zelenskyy noted that Germany and Poland could provide significant assistance with missile supplies.
“Other countries are helping little by little,” Zelenskyy said. He added that he was constantly negotiating with other countries to secure Patriot missiles outside the U.S. package.
Zelenskyy also said that four years ago he had asked U.S. President Joe Biden for licenses to produce Patriot missiles. Had Ukraine received them at the time, it would already be mass-producing interceptors, Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine has previously reported a shortage of Patriot missiles, which has prevented Kyiv from intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.
