Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in September. He said this in a comment to Ukrainian media.
“We discussed the timing quite specifically. We are going to meet in the near future. With the Europeans, the Americans and us — at the level of advisers.
I am going to meet with President Trump. I very much hope that the president will find the time. I want to do this in September.
And then I, we, we all will prepare for and work toward a three-way meeting between Ukraine, Russia and America, if all sides agree. We also want to do this in the autumn, if possible, in September. The sooner, the better”, he said.
Zelenskyy named Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland as possible venues for the three-way meeting. He said other countries had also extended invitations. The talks could address energy, grain supplies and humanitarian issues.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Europe should be represented at the negotiating table in any format.
Answering another question, the Ukrainian president said he expected to meet Trump in the 20s of September. He also wants to raise the issue of U.S. support for Ukraine’s missile program at the meeting.
