Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He described the conversation as “substantive.”
“I spoke with Marco Rubio, and it was substantive — focused on issues that matter. I am grateful for his willingness to help and his clear position. First, interceptors against ballistic missiles, which are necessary to protect lives. Second, early warning of Russian ballistic missile attacks, which is vital. Third, the situation surrounding Starlink/Starshield, which needs to be restored. Of course, all this is happening against the backdrop of our diplomatic efforts to end this terrible war and the ongoing killing of people,” Zelenskyy wrote.
According to Zelenskyy, the two sides agreed to speak again soon. He also thanked the U.S. secretary of state for his constructive position.
The conversation took place amid repeated attacks on Zelenskyy by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump even said that someone other than Zelenskyy should lead Ukraine’s negotiations on ending the war.
