Infrastructure at a Yandex data center in Vladimir was damaged in a UAV attack. The data center has been completely shut down. No one was injured, and specialized services are already working at the site to deal with the aftermath, Yandex’s press service reported at 3:59 a.m. Moscow time.
“We consider the remaining resource configuration unstable. The platform is operating in emergency mode — we recommend using any available alternative disaster recovery plans. Communication channels with technical support may be unstable. The team is working to assess the damage and possible plans for restoring operations,” Russia’s largest technology company said.
Yandex Cloud reported a partial disruption to its cloud infrastructure due to a power failure in the ru-central1-a availability zone. This is one of the sites hosting the cloud service’s servers. According to the company, most databases with redundancy have switched to backup capacity, but some remain unavailable or are operating in read-only mode. The file storage system may experience problems with writing data. The company is restoring infrastructure and technical support channels and has recommended that customers use alternative sites.
The problem has also affected users in Belarus. The Yandex Go taxi service is currently unavailable. Users are reporting the problem en masse.
“The app isn’t working. I couldn’t order a taxi and missed my intercity bus,” one user wrote.
“The app takes a long time to load. It doesn’t work,” another added.
Yandex previously reported that on the night of October 7–8, the company’s data center in Sasovo was seriously damaged in a UAV attack. Its operations were completely halted. On the morning of October 9, another data center, in Kaluga, was attacked.
Eyewitnesses are posting footage online of the attack on the data center in Vladimir.
