She described the Belarusian authorities&#8217; actions as an attempt to criminalise independent journalism and intimidate journalists. This is stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.dw.com\/de\/dw-verurteilt-fahndung-nach-vier-dw-journalistinnen-aus-belarus\/a-79873300\">statement by Deutsche Welle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThis is an unacceptable attempt to criminalise independent journalism and intimidate journalists for doing their jobs,\u201d<\/i> Massing said. She expressed her support for her colleagues and stressed that Deutsche Welle would continue providing audiences in Belarus with independent and reliable information.<\/p>\n<p>The journalists concerned are <strong>Olga Kapustina<\/strong>, <strong>Alexandra Boguslawskaja<\/strong>, <strong>Ulyana Babayed<\/strong> and <strong>Katsiaryna Kryzhanouskaya<\/strong>. According to DW, all four are wanted in Belarus and Russia.<\/p>\n<p>DW reports that the search in Belarus is believed to be linked to criminal cases involving participation in an \u201cextremist formation\u201d. As Reform.news <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/uzhe-bolee-5-tysjach-belarusov-nahodjatsja-v-baze-rozyska-rf\/\">previously reported<\/a>, Belarusian security services may initiate the inclusion of people they are seeking in Russia&#8217;s wanted database.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2024, the Belarusian Interior Ministry designated as an \u201cextremist formation\u201d a group of creators, administrators and other contributors to the DW Belarus online platforms.
