The sides discussed support for Belarusians, assistance to political prisoners, parliamentary cooperation and prospects for democratic change in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting with the foreign minister, they discussed the possibility of appointing a special representative for relations with Belarusian democratic forces. The same issue <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/tsikhanouskaya-discusses-pressure-on-lukashenka-regime-and-regional-security-with-romanian-president\">was raised at today&#8217;s meeting with Romanian President <b>Nicu\u0219or Dan<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tsikhanouskaya and Necul\u0103escu also discussed expanding access to Schengen visas for Belarusians, the possibility of Romania joining the International Humanitarian Fund for Supporting Victims of Repression in Belarus, assistance with the rehabilitation of former political prisoners and support programmes for their children.<\/p>\n<p>The sides also discussed the participation of Belarusian democratic forces in Central European Initiative events and support for Belarusian culture, including translations of Romanian literature.<\/p>\n<p>In talks with Romanian Senate Speaker Mircea Abrudean, the Belarusian democratic forces leader discussed the possibility of establishing a For a Democratic Belarus group in the Romanian parliament, holding parliamentary hearings on the situation in the country and organising joint events.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also focused on Romania&#8217;s experience of transitioning from dictatorship to democracy, constitutional reforms and restoring the rule of law.
