A criminal case has been opened under articles concerning abuse of power or official authority.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the founder and director of a company leased a plot of land in Pruzhany District. They allegedly claimed to be dismantling structures on the site that had been left behind by a former enterprise.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn fact, they were illegally extracting sand. To sell it on, they entered into supply contracts with various legal entities and individuals,\u201d<\/em> the Interior Ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme had been operating for several years. During that time, the suspects sold more than 55,000 tonnes of sand.
