A woman from Slutsk has spoken about the death of her husband, who sought medical help because of a toothache. His treatment ended with emergency hospitalisation and three surgeries. The woman believes her husband could have been saved if medical assistance had been provided in time.<\/p>\n

A Threads user, shakhkova.irina, said<\/a> that her husband went to a dental clinic complaining of a toothache. He was not seen during his first visit, and no X-ray was taken. The following day, after an X-ray, doctors said the tooth was healthy, inserted a drain and told him to take antibiotics.<\/p>\n

The man’s condition worsened over the next few days. Ambulance staff who arrived after a call did not take him to hospital and instead advised him to continue taking antibiotics. The following day, the woman took her husband to the emergency department and insisted that he be admitted. Over the next few days, he underwent two surgeries in Slutsk before being transferred to Minsk for a third. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he died.<\/p>\n

According to the woman, her husband’s official diagnoses were neck phlegmon and mediastinitis.<\/p>\n

The woman, who is now raising their four-year-old son alone, believes her husband could have been saved if medical assistance had been provided in time.<\/p>\n

“Well, it was Sunday. Who wants to work on weekends? Surgeons from Minsk arrived urgently during the night. He underwent surgery. On Tuesday, doctors from Minsk performed a second operation. I asked them to take him away. But he said it was not possible yet. When his condition stabilised and he could be transported, I asked for him to be sent to Minsk. But I was knocking on closed doors.<\/em><\/p>\n

A few days later, a consultant whom I had called myself arrived. He said the transfer was possible, but required approval from the management. I asked the head of the intensive care unit. He said it was not his decision. I asked the hospital’s deputy chief physician, who said it was not for us to decide how she should do her job. It was as if they were deliberately keeping him there, although I don’t know why. We made arrangements with the regional hospital ourselves, and its intensive care team came and took him away. The next day, he underwent a third operation. I also heard the head of the intensive care unit say that I was playing a double game,”<\/em> the woman wrote.<\/p>\n

The Slutsk Central District Hospital told<\/a> the Minskaya Prauda newspaper that the Main Health Department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee would conduct an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
