Prime Minister <b>Pedro S\u00e1nchez<\/b> announced this at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThe victims are not only Spanish citizens. We also have up to 27 nationalities whose citizens may have died in this railway tragedy,\u201d<\/i> he said.<\/p>\n<p>The disaster occurred on October 28 near the town of Urda in the province of Toledo. Two high-speed trains travelling from Madrid to Seville collided there. One train stopped on the tracks, and the train behind it crashed into it at a speed of more than 100 km\/h. At least 69 people were killed.<\/p>\n<p>The Civil Guard is treating an operator at the control centre of infrastructure company Adif as a suspect. The operator authorised a Renfe AVE train to proceed even though an Iryo train had already stopped further ahead on the tracks.
