The party\u2019s unification congress was held today in Bia\u0142ystok.<\/p>\n<p>The congress was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the historic BCD party. The organisers said the congress aimed to unite different strands of Belarusian Christian democracy, restore and develop the party\u2019s activities, and strengthen cooperation among Belarus\u2019s democratic forces.<\/p>\n<p>Pavel Sieviaryniec was among the 123 political prisoners released on December 13. He was detained in June 2020 and sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of organising mass riots. Along with most of those released, he was taken to Ukraine.
