According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gentosha.co.jp\/topic\/detail\/033590\/\">statement<\/a> by Japanese publisher Gentosha, he died on October 17 at the age of 74. A farewell ceremony was held in a small family gathering.<\/p>\n<p>Ryu Murakami&#8217;s debut novel, \u201cAlmost Transparent Blue<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span>, was published in 1976. It received the Akutagawa Prize and became a bestseller. Murakami wrote more than 40 novels in total.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, novels by the Japanese writer were added to the \u201clist of printed publications containing information and\/or materials whose distribution may harm the national interests of the Republic of Belarus.\u201d The banned titles included \u201cTopaz<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span>, \u201cEcstasy<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span>, \u201cAll Shades of Blue<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span> and \u201cKaraoke<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese writer Ryu Murakami\u00a0has died.
