Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya<\/b> spoke at Luxembourg\u2019s Chamber of Deputies on October 22 during a joint meeting with parliamentary leaders and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. The parties discussed the release of political prisoners, assistance to Belarusians affected by repression, and Belarus\u2019s European future.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker Andr\u00e9 Bauler<\/b>, head of the \u201cFor a Democratic Belarus\u201d group Paul Galles<\/b>, and members of several political parties.<\/p>\n

The main topics of discussion included the release of political prisoners, assistance to victims of repression, resolving issues related to documents, legal status and education for Belarusians abroad, and support for the Belarusian language and culture. Participants also discussed Belarus\u2019s European future and assistance to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Tsikhanouskaya proposed holding a parliamentary roundtable in Luxembourg in 2027 on implementing the \u201cLuxembourg Decisions.\u201d She also called for consideration to be given to organizing internships for young Belarusians in the country\u2019s parliament.<\/p>\n

During her visit, Tsikhanouskaya also took part in the CinEast film festival. She attended a screening of Volia Chajkouskaya<\/strong>\u2019s film \u201cNot Made for Politics\u201d and a discussion titled \u201cBelarus at a Crossroads\u201d with MP Paul Galles. Participants discussed the events of 2020 in Belarus, the role of women in the protests, life in exile, and international support for Belarusian society.<\/p>\n

Tsikhanouskaya thanked Luxembourg for its consistent support for Belarusians, including assistance to those facing repression, independent media and civil society, as well as its attention to Belarusian culture.<\/p>\n
