According to Latvia\u2019s phytosanitary control service, 131,417 tonnes of grain passed through Latvia from Belarus between January and September, compared with just 60.8 tonnes during the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>A further 14,640 tonnes of grain from Belarus transited Latvia between October 1 and 6. This brings the total volume to more than 146,000 tonnes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delfi.lv\/bizness\/37264250\/biznesa_vide\/120139512\/vid-no-septembra-parbauda-katru-no-krievijas-un-baltkrievijas-vesto-graudu-kravu\">Delfi<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The volume of grain transiting from Russia reached 742,000 tonnes between the beginning of the year and October 6.<\/p>\n<p>Latvian inspection authorities say they have been checking every grain shipment since September. Samples from transit cargoes are being sent to France and the United Kingdom to rule out the transport of grain originating from occupied Ukrainian territories. If test results confirm that the grain comes from territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia, the recipients will be notified. In Latvia, this could provide grounds for restricting the activities of the carrier concerned and potentially banning further grain transit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Active transit of grain from Belarus and Russia through Latvia continues.
